Signs of my advancing age:
1) I consider my New Year's Eve to have been a major success because the dual case of acute otisis media that I was suffering from on the 31st of December got progressively better over the course of the evening until, at about 11pm, I realized the pain had completely subsided, and the fluid began to drain out of my right ear. Happy New Year indeed!
(In case you are wondering, no, I didn't see a doctor about my ears, since I fail to see the point of ruining a perfectly good Sunday with a trip to the clinic just so that I can augment my ingestion of Extra Strength Tylenol with a couple of amoxicillin, which cause me get over the infection in approximately the same amount of time as it would have taken if I had just let my own immune system fight it. I did, however, spend many hours in the proximity of two MDs and two RNs on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day, which seemed to have done the trick. So, for future reference, remember that drinking socially with medical professionals has virtually the same effect as consulting them in a professional capacity. Plus, you get drunk.)
2) I am wishing you a happy new year on January 4th, and it's not because I've been in a drunken stupor for four days, but simply because it's only now dawning on me that it's a new year. 2007! That's a big number. I turn 30 in 14 days.
